Act Now to Protect Yellowstone in Winter
The National Park Service has released a Proposed Rule governing winter use in Yellowstone. Comments will be accepted through June 17, 2013.
Long-Awaited Winter Rule is Out
The Forest Service has released a draft Over-Snow Vehicle Rule. When finalized this rule will provide the framework for winter travel planning on National Forest lands across the country. Comments will be accepted until August 4, 2014.
Travel Planning
The Lassen, Tahoe, Eldorado, and Stanislaus National Forests have begun working on winter travel management plans and the Plumas will begin the planning processes soon. Input from the human-powered winter recreation community is needed to ensure these plans protect opportunities for backcountry skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.
