As WWA’s newest Grassroots Group, Oregon Backcountry Alliance (OBA) is dedicated to preserving the region’s human-powered snowsports experience while working to bring awareness to the impact on Oregon’s environment, wildlife, and community.
WWA works with grassroots groups across the country to protect winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snowsports experience on public lands. By joining and pooling interests with WWA, grassroots network members not only become part of a national movement for sustainable recreation, but also gain access to a variety of resources for increasing awareness and effectiveness of their organizations.
OBA aims to promote public safety, community, stewardship, and sustainable access for Oregon’s winter backcountry users through dialogue, public information, outreach, and advocacy. Launched in 2020 during a global pandemic, OBA is currently focusing on protecting access for all peoples to public lands and being inclusive by helping unify all the groups and resources already active in Oregon. OBA welcomes your ideas, energy, and support. Please join us in welcoming our newest grassroots group and check out their current work here!
